Home-made birthday party

I don’t know about you, but some of the most memorable parties I remember as a child were hosted by parents in their house. I don’t remember people trying to out do each other with big venues, and hired entertainment for children under the age of 5. Can you remember the excitement of ‘pass-the-parcel’ and ‘musical statues’? It’s honesty amazing how the humble house party has disappeared! And why has it been replaced by soft play, and magician parties?

So after procrastinating, I decided to host a children’s party for Elliott’s 3rd birthday. And instead of buying everything, I tried to put my skills to the test.

Bunting…I simply love it! The party wouldn’t be the same without it. To keep costs down but make something effective, I looked at piggybankparties. What a gem of a website for free downloads! Can you see the amazing party bunting? All I had to do was write out the letters I wanted. Cut out the triangles, and stick them to string with Sellotape.

Also, the same website shows how to make printable bottle labels . I thought this would be a good idea for the under 3’s so they could remember the colour and prevent a mix-up. They went down a storm with the adults!

Then at dinner time, I put a blanket on the floor, with a picnic hamper. The children loved having a picnic indoors!

Elliott had a great time, especially after dancing and party games in the living room. I feel inspired to take on the next party as well! 😉
